National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene presents
Immigrant Arts in America
Hosted by The Museum of Jewish Heritage
This Two-Day Summit took place on July, 17 & 18 and instigated the founding of the Immigrant Arts Coalition.
In tandem with Amerike – The Golden Land, a musical journey depicting the immigrant experience in New York, National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene presented A Summit of Artists, Presenters, Cultural Institutes, Arts Supporters and Community Leaders.
Taking place at the Museum of Jewish Heritage, 36 Battery Place, the two-day Summit consisted of panels, talks and workshops led by distinguished artists whose work reflects immigrant experiences and ethnic traditions; prominent cultural leaders; and scholars, authors and journalists who have studied and covered the contributions of immigrant groups to the welfare and unique identity of the United States.
The second day featured a concert of works by participating organizations. American Idol Star Kimberley Locke began the concert in front of Statue of Liberty with “The New Colossus.”
