GIMPEL TAM OPENING NIGHT

Gimpel Tam opened officially on Thursday night December 4th. at 8pm to a packed house - many board members present - including Jeff Wiesenfeld, Feliks Frenkel, Charlie Rose, Mark Sarna, Arthur Shapiro, Jeanette Friedman, Blanche Binder, Cheryl Fishbein , Joe Cooper,Barney Zumoff and many more.

There were many notables in the audience - among them Bel Kaufman, who turned 97 last May, the author of Up The Down Staircase, and the only living relative of Sholem Aleichem, being his grand-daughter. Also Murray Shisgal ( LUV, TOOTSIE) whose 3 plays will be premiered in the spring in Yiddish, for an evening called Shpiel! Shpiel! Shpiel! Also, those attended included Eleanor Reissa, former Artistic Director, Joanne Borts - writer and director of Kids and Yiddish, David Weprin, Chairman of the NYC Council Finance Commitee who addressed the crowd before the show-as did Jeff Wiesenfeld.

After the show, there was a wonderful reception, organized by our Marketing consultant, Ashley Bundis, in the theme of Gimpel Tam's bakery, with baked dishes, knishes, crepes, and sweets, to the music of GOLEM, and later joined by our own Dmitri Slepowich, (Zisl) who leads the band for Gimpel.

It was a lovely evening that was action-packed. The show with great enthusiasm by the audience. Check out our rave reviews. This is just the beginning of a fruitful future for Gimpel Tam!
