To preserve, promote, and develop Yiddish Theater for current and future generations to enhance the understanding and appreciation of Yiddish culture as a necessary component of Jewish Life.

The theatre fulfills this mission by:

• Striving to create a focal point for Yiddish Theater arts in New York City and the United States.
• Educating a new crop of talented artists in Yiddish through aural training, using seasoned Yiddish professionals as mentors.
• Enhancing the appreciation of the Yiddish language by providing main-stage productions, bilingual children's entertainment and a play reading series.
• Presenting the history and traditions of an immigrant people in a fresh, inventive venue that emphasizes the culture's lively, ever-evolving art and wisdom.
